Background
The Artesia Great Boulevard Project is a generational project that transformed Artesia Boulevard into a safer and more accessible multimodal corridor along a 3.2-mile stretch between Harbor and Downey Avenues. It supports goals outlined in the City of Long Beach’s Climate Action Plan by implementing sustainable landscaping and stormwater management, more than doubling the number of trees, and promoting equitable, active, and sustainable transportation options for people of all abilities. Enhanced safety features and significant roadway improvements also reduce risk of fatal accidents along a major corridor identified in the Safe Streets Long Beach initiative.
These enhancements also reflect the guiding principles of the Complete Streets approach to design corridors that accommodate all modes of travel, not just vehicles.
This project is part of the Elevate ’28 Infrastructure Investment Plan, a historic initiative dedicated to enhancing Long Beach parks, community facilities, mobility access, and streets. Learn more at lbelevate28.com.
